Frequently asked questions
General studio policies
Iris Ink Studios is a safe and inclusive place where everyone is welcomed with open arms. We do not tolerate any hate speech or offence towards our team or clients.
Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your appointment.
Be mindful of other clients and artists by refraining from playing videos/phone calls out loud. If you need to take a phone call please don’t hesitate to ask your artist for a break, or please use headphones.
Iris Ink Studios is a shared space and some clients may have booked a quiet appointment or be more nervous.
If you would like to take pictures or videos of your artist at work or the studio please ask your artist permission first.
What is the legal minimum age to get a tattoo?
The legal minimum age to be tattooed is 18. You must bring a form of ID to your appointment. Failure to prove your age may result in being turned away from your appointment.
Can I bring a friend/family member to my appointment?
We are happy for you to bring support to your appointment provided you let us know in advance. Our main concern is making sure you as a client are happy with your tattoo, piercing or treatment experience therefore we welcome a plus one but prefer to be one on one with you!
What if I am feeling nervous or anxious for my tattoo?
It is perfectly normal to feel nervous before your tattoo especially if it is your first one. On arrival you will be asked to complete a consent form which includes an option for a “quiet appointment” which can be great for people who are feeling anxious - please feel free to ask your artist about this prior to your appointment. We advise to bring along anything you need such as headphones or a book (we also have plenty of books here if you forget!) to keep you comfortable throughout your appointment.
Can I bring my child with me?
For health and safety reasons we do not allow anyone under the age of 18 in the studio with the exception of a pre-booked piercing - please refer to our piercing information on ages and parental permission.
Do you do cover ups?
Yes we are happy to do cover ups, for this a free consultation is required so that we can see the existing tattoo in person and make an informed decision on the right steps to take. Some tattoos can be covered quite easily but some may require laser removal sessions with our in house laser specialist Leanne prior to a cover up.
I have health conditions, can I still get a tattoo?
Upon arrival you will be asked to complete a consent form which also includes some questions regarding medical information. Some conditions may require a doctors approval beforehand and we would always recommend consulting your GP regardless of the nature of condition. Please feel free to ask your tattoo artist prior to booking for advice.
Are there any tattoos you won’t do?
As a studio we will turn away any designs that are offensive, this includes anything that can be construed as racist, homophobic or transphobic.
